Valley Hi Country Club was founded on a simple idea: that a world-class private club should feel like a second home — welcoming, diverse, and genuinely fun. More than 60 years later, nothing about that has changed.
We provide a premium country club experience for a diverse membership — exceptional golf, dining, and recreation in a family-friendly environment that fosters a healthy lifestyle and lasting friendships.
Valley Hi is member-owned. That means everything we do is in service of our members, their families, and their guests — not shareholders, not outside management.
We respect every member, guest, and staff member. Valley Hi is proudly diverse and welcoming to all.
A family-friendly environment has been central to Valley Hi since day one. Members of all ages belong here.
Outstanding facilities, honest governance, and fiscally responsible stewardship of a club that belongs to its members.
A group of founders representing a broad cross-section of the Elk Grove community came together in the late 1950s with a pioneering idea: an elite country club where every member had an equal voice.
After an extensive search for the right site, the founders engaged William “Billy” Francis Bell — former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and designer of Torrey Pines, Northridge Country Club, and dozens more — to design Valley Hi’s 18-hole championship course. Club president Wendell Pond played the first official round on June 4, 1961.
Under its first golf professional, Ed Loustalot, and first manager, Richard Smith, Valley Hi quickly became the social and athletic hub of the Elk Grove community — an uncrowded course, year-round social programming, and a genuine sense of belonging for every member.
Valley Hi has evolved considerably — including a modernized clubhouse and redesigned holes 16 and 17 — but the founding spirit remains unchanged. A major clubhouse renovation is underway, with completion planned for late 2026, along with new practice facility upgrades that will position Valley Hi among Northern California’s premier private clubs.
We’re establishing Valley Hi as the premier destination for leisure, recreation, and hospitality in the greater Sacramento region — unparalleled golf, exceptional social amenities, and the highest standards of professionalism. The renovation coming in 2026 is just the beginning.
Valley Hi maintains a country club standard of dress throughout the property. When in doubt, think PGA or LPGA style — consistent with what you’d find in our Pro Shop.
Questions? The Pro Shop team is always happy to help — and carries a great selection of on-code attire.
Valley Hi offers more active coaching and programming than any comparable club in the region — from beginner group clinics to one-on-one sessions with our PGA professionals.
